Get it done Monday
Another author said that she used Mondays for all her marketing chores--Marketing Mondays she calls it. How smart! I have nothing against marketing, but I tend to bury myself so much in writing that I space it (because creating worlds and characters is much more fun than remembering to fill our X form and put Y in the mail....)
So I'm doing "Get It Done" Monday. In the spirit of that, I've purchased an ad, ordered bookmarks, emailed about speaking engagements, and worked on getting to the RT conference.
I invite you to post what you get done or want to get done on "Get it Done" Monday.
Back to writing. I have a 5000 word goal today.

TGIF--Have a Hunk Day
It's Friday, and we all deserve to feast our eyes. I pondered what hunk to pick, and thought, who better than my friend CJ? So here you go. Cover model CJ Hollenbach for Friday Hunk Day.

Mailed off a manuscript yesterday afternoon--woo hoo!! Looking around I see the usual after-manuscript disaster: house a wreck, library books overdue, unwashed clothing, and no food. Have caught up on the no food thing, am working on the laundry, now to tackel the wrecked house. This is the true life of a writer.

Sorry for the silence, but a lot going on. I had some sad news this weekend; an acquaintance of mine passed away, who was only 52. I was not as close to her as others in my "gang" are, but I am saddened by it and feel bad for my friends. Cindy was a writer who has many stories published in Marion Zimmer Bradley's magazine and Sword and Sorceress anthologies, and she was a very talented songwriter. I was so sorry to hear of her death. She will be greatly missed.
On the work front, I'm putting the final touches to Playing with Fire, the dragon book for Berkley I'm writing as Allyson James. This was a challenge to write, and I tried to do a very good job for you all.
Next I'll be writing a novella to appear in a vampire anthology with Katie Macalister and Minda Webber next year, which I'm looking forward to. No title for the antho. yet, but they're working on it. Will be a collection of fun stories.
Hope everyone is enjoying whatever you do to observe MLK/civil rights day. To paraphrase Desmond Tutu--none of us are truly free until we are all free.

Great review from Pub. Weekly
What would I do without Cheyenne McCray to kick my butt? Get more sleep? She's right, I need to post some more good news (and if you haven't read her wonderful paranormal, Forbidden Magic, get out there and do it!)
Publisher's Weekly gave A Lady Raised High: A Novel of Anne Boleyn (out in March) a nice review, which is posted on Amazon (I wrote this one as Laurien Gardner). I'm pleased because this book was a challenge to write, but to date was probably the best writing experience I've had.
Back to work! Have deadlines, deadlines, deadlines. :)
